I like math because it is confusing when you first learn it but when you get it it's FUN!!! Every day everybody is ready for math. There is never a no or aww when math is next. If it is estimating percents with M&Ms or listening to music and having a dance party while doing a review for a test, nobody ever wants to leave. Mrs. Reulbach is amazing! Let me repeat that. Mrs. Reulbach is amazing! Whether she's singing along with us or giving us goldfish so that we can use them for probability and then letting us eat them she is always herself. Do you want to know what she is? She is 10% amazing 10% fun 10% mother 10% teacher 10% love 10% care 10% math 10% young at heart 10% funny 10% best math teacher ever!

The story of a praying mantis on an adventure to find his mate

The Time I Saw The Light
I, Apollo Hartford had just seen the light of a new day. “Time to find my mate for life.” I thought. As I came down our stick I evaluate what’s for breakfast. Mmm, fried flies and a cricket leg. As I eat I asked my mother how father found her in Insectopia 25 weeks ago. She said “when I was your age there were only 5,436,100,000.000 insects here. That’s 5.4361 times 10 to the 9th power in scientific notation. He found me at this house that used to be a juicy caterpillar shop. he stayed on my back for 2 days and 45 minutes later we had you.” she explained. As I started out on my day I keep a lookout for large females. I see none as I scurry back and forth. “What happened!” I say to myself. “Where are the females?” I exclaimed! Then I saw the light, but a different kind of light. It was too bright. Then all of a sudden I was whipped through the air at superscript speed. I was then put into the base of a large enclosed area that didn’t expand very far. I was only in a small fraction of this container. Then I saw it the females! They looked very scared and worried. I asked one what was going on but she scampered away into something that looked like a log that had been hollowed out and then deserted by termites. In the end I had found no females to talk to.
The One Courageous Girl
I woke up laying in musty foul smelling leaves. I surprisingly saw a female hovering over me and feeding me a bowl of antenne soup. I back up quickly; I don’t like to be fed. She stared at me and came a little closer. She said her name was Aphrodite and I told her I was Apollo. “She was perfect.” I said to myself. Aphrodite told me that humans had taken us for something she called a “project.” Before I got here she had tried to rally up the other mantises but, they said there was no hope. They said there was no way out. Aphrodite showed me where all the mantises were. We walked through dense leaves and I saw the whole colony huddled together, shuddering in horror as they saw one mantis after another being put into this prison. Aphrodite told me she overheard the things she called “humans” were keeping us for TWO WEEKS!!! In exponential form that’s 2 to the 1 power. We suddenly were lifted into the air and swept into a moving vehicle called a “car.” while I was watching the vehicle move at incredible speed Aphrodite was calming down the other mantises with her soothing words. Soon we were picked up yet again and put us on a black table. In “human” terms we are in Mrs. Denham’s room. After a few hours I was worried we would die in this prison, the next thing I knew is that was picked up along with Aphrodite and poked and prodded with a metal utensil and shot with water. The human then gave us a field cricket which I gobbled up but Aphrodite just let it jump off in disgust. Then we were put into a net and taken outside.
Into the garden
As we walk outside we come into the garden right next to our nest. I then see all the plants the fruits and veggies that the insects we ate ate. Sometimes even I ate the fruit here as a substitute instead of insects. When I see the butterflies my mind thinks they’re free I want to be free. I start to struggle as I try to make my way out. It was no use the net wouldn’t rip open. This human started cutting basil and putting it on top of Aphrodite and I. The smell was immensely strong and it was getting hard to breath. We both start climbing to the top and just as the human opened the net we flew. The human didn’t notice at first but he finally started running towards us. We flew into the open door and right into another cage. This cage had one large creature in a shell with many arms and legs and had a freaky looking monster on the back.

One look was all we needed as we scurried out.
So many creatures so little time
As Aphrodite and I jump out we land in a musty container filled with snails, snails, snails!
They were all over the container. on the top, on the bottom, between logs, and digging in the soil. I’ve eaten snail soup before and it’s delicious, but all those snails are freaking me out. We here the girl scream as we fly out of the cage and right over her head. “Why does there have to be so many cages?” I yell just as we land in a water filled habitat. “I can’t swim!” Aphrodite shrieks. As I struggle to get Aphrodite out I see an electric blue shadow swimming towards. “Crayfish!” I scream at the top of my lungs.
The crayfish tries to pinch us but we make it out just in time. We then fly into a more cozy dry spot, a caterpillar cage. It is a fuzzy light brown one.
As we make it back outside free and alive but with no other mantises. At the end of the two weeks the other mantises get dumped out alive but weak. We all take off simultaneously into the light, free and wild again.
Evaluate: To calculate the value of.
Scientific Notation: Where a number is written in two parts.
Base: The number that is going to be raised to a power.
Expand: Writing a number to show the value of each digit.
Fraction:Part of a whole number.
Terms: In Algebra a term is either:
* a single number, or
* a variable, or
* numbers and variables multiplied together.
Substitute : In Algebra "Substitution" means putting numbers where the letters are.
Exponential form: The exponent of a number says how many times to use that number in a multiplication.

A Hard Life For A Weevil
Off To War
One day as Mr. Weevil was walking along he wondered how his son was doing at war . The war was against honey bees that were fighting for weevil territory. The old weevil hoped he would be ok but he wasn’t so sure what was happening. Mr. and Mrs. Weevil hadn't gotten any letters from him in 3 months, a long time for a weevil. Then Mr. Weevil thought of an idea, he could join the army see his son and come home safely is what he thought. Mrs. Weevil didn’t, she could have already lost her son she didn’t want to lose her husband either. Finally she let in. “Be careful she exclaimed. As soon as you find him come back as quickly as you can.” she said shaking a little. And off Mr. Weevil went into WSB (weevil security base). As he approached he was awed by how big it was. Mr. Weevil had only seen it on his way to work and his home, a tomato plant. He took a deep breath and pushed the large, wide doors. He eyed the female mantis at the desk typing on her insecta pad. “She must be the secretary of the base. he said to himself. Um, excuse me ma'am, I was wondering what floor the army generals have interviews on.” he said quietly. “155.” she said sternly. “Thank you ma’am.” he said nicely. Then he turned around and headed towards the elevator. He pressed 155 on the elevator numbers and up he went.
