crazy cricket by: Carly Bromstead
Once upon a time there was a cricket named Jimmy .Jimmy lived in a cricket hospital
base with his mom ,dad , brother , and sister . He lived there because his dad was caught in a jar and taken away to a prison . Using Scientific Notation his father escaped but not without losing an antenna because it got stuck and his dad pulled and the antenna snapped of . When he got back he found the field had exponentially grown . It took him a whole Cricket day to find Jimmy . After he found Jimmy , Jimmy took his dad to a hospital base . Every day Jimmy returns to the hospital base and tells his family what is happening out in the field . Today Jimmy came with good and bad news . He told them immediately that when his cricket teacher had evaluated him he didn’t miss a single problem , his dad had a tingling feeling in his cerci , he asked what else had happened and Jimmy said he saw humans in the field . His mother gasped and started firing out questions. To simplify her questions she basically asked if jimmy was all right . Jimmy tried to assure his parents that could have been they mean crickets down in the hole . “They could have easily substituted a human with a scarecrow ,“ Jimmy lied . “ And just how would they make a scarecrow with the shortage of straw in the field .” replied his mom . “ Welllll , ummmm , there’s a distributer down in the cave ,” jimmy suggested . “ well fine but just be careful mister , “ his mom said with power . wow jimmy thought , his mom never used the term mister unless he was in trouble . but his mother wasn’t very reassured so every time Jimmy came home his mom constantly asked if he was ok . at school the next day and overheard the mean group talking about hidden treasure in the tall grass . Jimmy thought to himself if I went into the tall grass i could get enough money to help dad recover and get my family a home . Jimmy set of into the tall grass one day , but he thought of his family and imagined their expressions and quickly turned around and went home . The next day he really wanted to find the money so he faced his fear and jumped straight into the tall grass . he jumped so high and so fast that yelling nonsense . He landed with a thud on a rock size piece of brick . “ wow that is not an ordinary brick it has a map on it ,” muttered Jimmy . he carefully picked up the brick and placed on his back . he followed to the place where the money was and …...... BOOM . Everything was in expanded form it looked like there was 6 jars coming down on him . wait …..... JARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jimmy tried to hop away but he couldn’t focus and just like that he was trapped .
CARLY BROMSTEAD 4, CRAZY CRICKET
When he was put in a prison yet cozy like structure he felt sick and dizzy . he dug a small borrow and crawled in when he fell asleep he started to have bizarre dreams . the dream was about a small town called equation totally dedicated to human studies. Jimmy was wanting to get out of this crazy world so he started to climb up a tower to get out . then he met a flying cricket . Apparently this crazy cricket was a “super hero “ as humans call it . he was dressed up to honor humans heros . he told Jimmy that his “super hero” name was superscript “that’s why i can fly “ he explained . sure that makes since , jimmy thought . then everything got blurry and disappeared in thin air .
he didn’t like they cage it was cold and he wanted to go home and see his family . A few days later Jimmy was sitting on a piece of wood when he heard an old voice “ hee hee hee so you want to out kid , well i can tell you how if you got something for me .”
“what do you want i’ll get you it ,’ JImmy replied .” i want to learn like terms like those crazy people in my dream .” said the old cricket . ” i can try and you had that dream too ??? “ asked Jimmy . “ Yeah my favorite part of the dream was the super heros superscript and captin subscript .” said the old cricket . “ So anyway like terms I can’t explain it well so I will do out a problem , 3x+7y-1x+5y+8, the like terms are 3x and -1x, 7y and 5y,they are called like terms because they are alike .” replied Jimmy . “ There aren’t letters in math silly “ said the old cricket . “ yes they are , they are called variables ,’’ said Jimmy . “ And what is the numbers in front of the letters ?” asked the old cricket . “The numbers in front of the letters are called coefficients , ok now that i’ve told you that how do you get out ?” asked Jimmy . “ Oh that’s easy you see that little hole squeeze through that crawl under 2 doors and you’re out right in the field .” replied the old cricket . “Thank you ,” said Jimmy as he hopped away back to his family .
