My Animal Story:

Super Sonic Slug

By Hank Grzeszczak   News spread fast in Slugville because Jerry the Slug will be in the Olympics. He is a great Olympic runner. His mom and dad were on TV that afternoon and they were crying their hearts out. Shelia, Jerry’s mom, said “We would have never thought that he would make it this far.” His dad said “I am very proud of Jerry and will be cheering him on in London this year.”            The last time that Jerry tried to make the Olympics he lost to Yohan Blake in the finals of the preliminaries where Jerry finished in last place. But this year Jerry’s power has been growing exponentially. His powerful muscles were spinning. Based on his performance last year announcers predict he will win the Olympics.

During the flight to London Jerry talked to Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Gabby Douglas, and Usain Bolt. During the flight the flight attendants had to distribute the food evenly, even though some people had to wait to get their food a long time. When Jerry was blown away by the amazing view he almost rolled over. The  expression on his face was him gasping with his chin on the ground. That night he went to a USA women’s soccer game where in the 56th minute the had a substitute for Abby Wambach. That night it was constant battle for a goal, but in the 86th minute Heather O’Reilly put one past Nozomi Yamago, Japan’s goalkeeper. The next day Jerry had to get ready for the preliminaries where he had to get into the top 4 to qualify for the medal race. During the race Jerry would have to at most run the track in 24 seconds because not would he only have to beat his arch rival Usain Bolt but also Yohan Blake. He would have to obtain a constant speed of 17 mph just to beat Yohan Blake. If you were to bet who comes in second place I would choose Jerry. Right before the race Jerry’s trainer comes up to him and says, “Simplify your pre game meal so you are not so sluggish.”  Now to the race, the gun goes off and Yohan Blake and Usain Bolt get a slow start but Jerry gets a speedy start. Into the final turn Jerry is in the lead, Usain Bolt a close second. Into the last 100 meters and it is Jerry the Slug in 1st, Usain Bolt in 2nd, and Yohan Blake in 3rd. After the race a reporter comes up to Jerry and asks , “Jerry how would you evaluate the the other runners?” “Well Kenny, Yohan Blake and Usain Bolt and the other runners ran a great race and I think that if I win the medal race it will be close.” Right before the race Jerry’s trainer comes up to him again and says “Do the same thing you did in the first race but pump up your energy.” But this time Jerry thinks he might because the weather is an important variable  to the race. The race official says the race will go on which is a great thing for Jerry because slugs like moist ground. The FINAL BATTLE is the Men’s 500 meter dash. The gun sounds Jerry with a huge lead. Coming into the 3rd corner, Jerry in the lead, Yohan Blake in 2nd, and Usain Bolt in 3rd. The final 100 meters and it is Jerry the Slug in 1st place, Yohan Blake in 2nd, and Usain Bolt in 3rd. A reporter comes up to Jerry and asks , “How do you feel about winning this race?” “OH MY GOD I feel amazing and I can’t believe I won. I want to thank my supporters and my parents the most.” “Well there you have it folks, the Men’s 500 meter dash winner Jerry the Slug.”

Term- a number, variable, or numbers and variables multiplied     ex.4x-7= 5

Variable- a letter to represent any number  ex. a

Constant- a number that stays the same    ex. 4x- 7=5

Coefficient-a number to multiply a variable  4x-7=5

Algebraic Expression- an equation  4x-7=5

3x+6a-7=6

First you have to combine like terms then you combine the number and you have your answer.

4x+7+8+6x

10x+15

To find x you mould need 4^2+3^2, this would equal x^2.

An algebraic expression is not an equation because it does not have an equals sign. That is an algebraic equation. :)
