Welcome Everyone

  • I like math because its logical which makes sense to me.
  • Some things I like about math are multiplication/division.
  • In math class my favorite thing is the hands on technology approach.
  • One of my other favorite things we do are the games we play.

13 Praying Mantis

Once upon a time, In galaxy far far away there was a praying mantis. His name was Kenny. He was outside one day when a strange figure appeared on the horizon. He walked unto tim and tim thought , "wow, this guy is fat, i shall call him Mr. chub chub." "I am here to teach you the ways of the mantis.' said Mr. Chub Chub. So later that day, Mr. Chub Chub was teaching him math with the light-saber."So two chopped up people minus eight chopped up people, what are the COEFFICIENTS." " The coefficients are two and negative eight."" Good," Mr. Chub Chub said. So they left, they went searching the universe for Master Falcon. Master Falcon was said to be the smartest falcon ever. When they met him Kenny expected for him to be a mantis but he was an actual falcon.Master Falcon taught him about TERMS and ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSIONS. Unfortunately Master Falcon could not teach him more and said "You must search the universe to find more knowledge." So he left in search, but alas he could not find anything. So in trying to find more teachings he joined the army, and became a master jedi mathematician he destroyed the mathstar and so on. But when he found out Darth Mather was his father. He prepared a mission to capture his father because he knew he must have some information on math. His mission was called shock and awe. His plan afterward was to find out any information to help the war. So he found out about his plans to make a new mathstar after some other person blew the other one up. When the mission was complete he had all the information on COEFFICIENTS, VARIABLES, TERMS, CONSTANTS, and ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSIONS. Also the war was almost won.

Definitions: Constants- a number on its own. Never changes.

Terms-a number or variable

Variable- a letter that represents a value and can change.

Coefficients- the number multiplied by the variable

Algebraic Expressions- consists of one or more variables

*Math Homework

Please note that the blue diamond and triangle should be moved down and up, i just ran out of room

please note that  the cut off stuff is errands and outdoors

Algebraic expressions

Definitions

Term-a single number, variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together. EX -2y*9

Variable-a letter for a number we do not know. EX 2yb+m*6

Constant-a number on its own. EX 2y+4

Coefficient-a number used to multiply a variable. EX -4z

Algebraic Expression- built up from terms, variables, constants, and coefficients. EX 6n/3+4=F

How to simplify

Get the terms w/ variables together and the one without and use the functions/symbols to add or subtract to simplify an expression.

UNSIMPLIFIED Simplified

3z+65+z+4 ======== 4z+69

6n/3+4=F An algebraic expression cannot have an equals sign in it. That makes it an equation. :)
