Ella shops at the mall for 4 hours. She goes to her 3 favorite stores:

Nordstrom, J. Crew, and Delias. Jacquie shops at the same stores in 2 hours. If they shop together, how long will it take for them to shop?

1/4h + 1/3h = 1

1/4(12/1) + 1/3(12/1) = 1(12/1)

3h + 4h = 12

12h = 12

12h = 12

  12=12

      h = 1 

My Consecutive integer Word Problem  

At the mall, Ella goe to her 3 favorite stores, Nordstrom, J. Crew, and Delia's. The map shows that the 3 stores are all on the right side of the mall main hall. They are numbered using consecutive even integers. If the sum of the numbers that the stores are labeled by are 150, what are there numbers? 

n + n+1 + n +2 = 150

  3n + 3 = 150

   -3      -3
   3n = 147
    3       3
    n=49
               So the 3 stores are 49, 50, and 51.

ust a Story!
“Come on Baby Binky it’s time for our lunch.” Papa Twinkie hollered for Baby Binky. Mama Dinky waited impatiently. Then, she exclaimed, “Don’t make me chew through your door and give you a powerful spanking.” At this, Binky was down in a flash. When the caterpillars sat down to eat their milkweed stew, Baby Binky whimpered,”My stew is to hot. Mama Dinky said, “Oh my butterflies, you’re right. Papa Twinkie as he constantly complained,”Well then what are we going to do for five minutes? Baby Binky exclaimed, “Why don’t we go for a walk!” The big daddy complained,”Oh all right, It’s to much exercise, but lets go.”
  As they left to let their 8th lunch of the day cool, a small little dramatic garden gnome wandered into the base of the the caterpillars milkweed home. As he entered the dwelling, he noticed the three bowls of stew on the table. He went up, and took a bite, and then he announced,”Why, this stew is horrible. And he threw it at the wall. Then he decided that all of them probably tasted horrible  so he threw the other two at the wall.  After throwing all the  pots, he was tired of standing, so he sat down on a big chair. Then he thought that he would work on  his super script in his gnometastic play. While he was reciting his scripts, he heard a strange noise. Then he thought to himself, this chair is to squeaky! So he threw it out the window. Then he simplified matters, and threw out the two others. As a substitute for the chairs, he went upstairs to find three beds. He walked into the room, and lay down on the bed. He felt annoyed because the bed was his least favorite color (this really irked him). He evaluated this problem, by sawing the beds in half. As he stood there admiring his way of solving his problems, he didn’t notice the three caterpillars walking back from their walk. The expanded formation of the mess he made was indeed a BIG MESS. To distribute to the mess, the chairs that he threw had like exterminated the small aphids living in the caterpillars front  yard.He was now really tired of throwing things, and standing, and sawing things in two, so he went to sleep, right there on the ground.
  The caterpillars were very slow, so they still had a ways to go before they even got to their front door. As the gnome was sleeping, he started rehearsing his subscript for his play. Here’s what he said,” Scene one, action. narrator- The mad scientist was about to finish his greatest invention ever... Mad Scientist- All I have to do is answer the last equations of my mad project What is the scientific notation of 378,326,912,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 and the answer is 3.78396912 x 10 to the 42 power!  narrator- was it even possible  to exponentially write such a long scientific notation equation? Heck yeah it was! mad scientist-any fool who knows their variables could do this equation.” he said to his coefficient helper who was truly scared of his boss.
 At this point, the caterpillars had finally reached their house, and had noticed that their stew had been thrown at the wall! This made the family angry. Baby Binky exclaimed,”Who would break into our home and destroy our lunch?” Papa Twinky angerly said,”I don’t know, but I’m gonna make sure this intruder gets a little bit of time with Papa.” Mama Dinky whispered,”I’m scared, I’ve never seen a burglar before. I hope he isn’t one of those chain saw maniacs who will destroy anyone in its path. Baby Binkie bravely stepped forth and announced that she would go up and teach the burglar a lesson. Papa Twinkie disagreed a  said that he would, and then Mama Dinky decided that they would all go up a teach the burglar a lesson..
 As they walked up the stairs, they heard snores, and a creature talking,”Scientific notation... mad scientist... ACTION! Uha, uhaha, ha, haaa.”As Papa Twinkie threw open the door, they exclaimed all together,” INTRUDER” The gnome, jumped up and announced that he was no intruder but he was a real estate agent. Baby Binky cried out,”No you’re not, you’re lying!” Papa Twinkie was furious, his bed and chair had been destroyed! He shouted get out, and at that the gnome was out in a millisecond.
  Soon, all was back to normal, the beds had been put together, the chairs brought back inside, the stew was remade, and the aphids had come back. The happy family soon got a small card that was from the intruder, who actually was a dramatic theater gnome who specializes in expressions, that read, I’m sorry that I intruded upon your dwelling. I wish to make it up to you buy giving you the tickets to my play, The Mad Scientist. The caterpillars accepted the gnome’s request, and they all lived happily after. THE END.
