Summer Resource Page for Rising 6th Grade Woodlawn Students
Welcome to the summer resource page for rising 6th grade students! You will need to do the following work over the summer to prepare for 6th grade mathematics.
1. Multiplication Facts
All rising 6th grade students should be able to complete 100 multiplication problems (through 12's tables) in under 4 minutes with 99% accuracy. You will be tested in the first weeks of school so please work on your facts during the summer.
How to Practice: Print out the sheets below. Complete one sheet a day and then grade it to make sure your facts are correct.
Multiplication Facts to 144 (from MathDrills.com ) - The following multiplication practice worksheets are intended for multiplication fact practice.
2. Khan Academy!
You will use the Khan Academy In order to practice the topics that you should have mastery in by the 6th grade. You must be signed in before working on Khan Academy. To get started:
- Go to the Khan Academy website. http://www.khanacademy.org
- Sign in with your Google email.
- Click ALLOW.
- Click on Coaches at the BOTTOM of the page (not the COACH button at the top).
- Enter the code R6E88X or juliereul@gmail.com in the coach box. This will assign me as your coach so I can follow your progress this summer.
- Please click on the links below in order to complete the following Khan sets to mastery. Once mastered, you can keep practicing. You just need to request "Give Me Another Stack Like This".

Additionally, many rising 6th grade students are already proficient in the following skills. Most students new to Woodlawn will not be proficient in these topics. We will cover them in 6th grade.
Technology
We use technology extensively in our math classes. It is not only important for students to own a computer, but to be very familiar with how to use it. Please visit the Technology page for additional resources.

Extra Help Workbook
If your student needs work on 5th grade math concepts or basic skills and would prefer a workbook to online activities such as the Khan Academy, I recommend the Jump Math workbooks listed below. Jump at Home Math is a homeschool workbook series based on a step-by-step approach to mathematics. It can be used to strengthen math skills or keep math skills sharp over the summer. The series is a year behind our curriculum so rising 6th graders would need to purchase one of the following:
